Long Term Evolution (LTE) is a 4th generation wireless network technology based on OFDM and MIMO. It provides much higher data rates (over 100 Mbps) to users while reducing cost-per-bit for service providers. This is very exciting to wireless operators who are eager to deploy multimedia rich Internet content over a wireless medium with seamless access anywhere, anytime. This Award Solutions seminar provides a high-level introduction to the LTE and its role in next generation wireless networks.
Learning Objectives
After completing this seminar, you will be able to: • Describe the history and motivation for LTE • Describe limitations of 3G systems like UMTS and 1xEV-DO • Discuss the capabilities of LTE network and its role in the broadband wireless industry • Describe the network architecture of LTE/EPS (Evolved Packet System) • Describe the planning of deploying LTE networks • Compare LTE with technologies like WiMAX and HSPA+
Intended Audience
This seminar provides a high-level introduction to LTE and is intended for those who only need a quick overview, or for those who will need more detailed training but would appreciate an early look at LTE.
